PSHE

Kennet School pupils learn CPR as part of a PSHE workshop

Personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education at Kennet School is delivered through a structured, progressive programme that grows alongside our pupils, equipping them with essential life skills and preparing them for the challenges they face at each stage of their development and beyond.

Key Stage 3

PSHE is embedded across the wider curriculum and school culture, with key themes reinforced through tutor time, assemblies, and enrichment days. We also  invite expert speakers, external organisations and workshops to provide specialist insight on important topics such as mental health, relationships, online safety and financial literacy. In Key Stage 3, the focus is on building self-esteem, friendships, mental well-being, and an introduction to relationships and online safety.

Key Stage 4

As pupils grow, so do the PSHE topics we cover. At Key Stage 4, the programme addresses the increasing complexities of teenage life. Pupils explore more complex topics, including managing stress, personal finance, careers, consent and social responsibility. Our curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices.

Key Stage 5

Our PSHE lessons at Sixth Form are delivered through our Preparation for Learning (PAL) programme which is carefully structured to ensure students receive highly practical, essential skills such as driving awareness, budgeting, health and fitness, independent living and preparation for life beyond school.
