Key Stage 3
While studying Dance at Key Stage 3, pupils explore a range of styles and professional works. Lessons focus on building physical technique, developing creative choreography, enhancing performance skills and fostering the ability to evaluate both peer and self-performances.
Key Stage 4
Our two-year GCSE Dance course provides a solid foundation for pupils looking to pursue further studies in dance and performing arts. Pupils will perform both a solo and a duet/trio in a contemporary style, then choreograph their own piece in a style of their choice, ensuring it aligns with the stimulus set by the exam board. They will also explore a diverse anthology of professional works, enhancing their ability to critically analyse different dance styles and cultural influences.
Key Stage 5
The A Level Dance course equips students with the skills and experience needed for success both in the performing arts industry and beyond. Through live performances, mastering high-quality dance techniques, and creating innovative choreography inspired by external stimuli, students refine their craft and showcase their abilities in assessed performances. Additionally, they develop critical thinking skills by analysing professional works, exploring historical events, and understanding the social contexts that have shaped our world.
