Kennet School's talented pupils wowed audiences with three outstanding performances of this year's summer musical, Billy Elliot, bringing months of commitment and creativity to the stage.

From the opening scene to the final curtain call, pupils impressed audiences with their acting, singing, dancing and musicianship, whilst the backstage crew ensured every performance ran seamlessly. The production demonstrated not only exceptional talent, but also the teamwork and resilience developed through months of rehearsals alongside pupils' academic studies. It reflected the school's values of resilience, courage and commitment, whilst highlighting how opportunities beyond the classroom form an integral part of Kennet's broad and ambitious co-curricular offer and education in its broadest sense.

The success of the production was made possible through the dedication of Kennet's Drama, Dance and Music departments, together with the wider production team. Countless hours were spent planning rehearsals, choreography, music, costumes, lighting, sound and stage management to bring the much-loved musical to life.

Mr M Gayler, Acting Headteacher, said: "Every member of the cast, band and backstage crew should be incredibly proud of what they achieved. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the show, and it was clear from the moment it began just how much hard work had gone into every aspect of the production. Productions of this scale demand an enormous amount of commitment, and it was fantastic to see our pupils performing with such confidence and professionalism.

"I would like to thank our Drama, Dance and Music departments, the wider production team and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the performances possible. Their dedication gave our pupils the opportunity to create something special, with memories they’ll never forget.”

The school would like to congratulate every pupil who took part, both on stage and behind the scenes, for their contribution to another fantastic summer production. Kennet School also extends its thanks to the many families, friends and members of the local community who filled the auditorium across the three performances and supported the cast with such enthusiasm.

The annual summer musical is a highlight of the school calendar, providing pupils with the opportunity to develop their confidence and creativity whilst sharing their talents with the wider community.
