Audiences were treated to three electrifying nights of entertainment as Kennet School brought Disney’s High School Musical to life on stage for this year’s school musical. With a talented cast, a live pupil-and-staff band, and full technical production led by pupils, the show was a resounding success and a true representation of the school’s creative talent.
The production ran across three evenings, with pupils performing exceptionally in both lead and ensemble roles. From pitch-perfect solos to energetic dance numbers, each performance was delivered with professionalism, enthusiasm and heart, earning standing ovations from family, friends, staff and the wider community.
Adding to the magic of the performances was the live band, made up of pupils from across year groups alongside members of the Music Department, whose energy and musical precision brought the soundtrack to life. Behind the scenes, pupils took charge of all technical elements including lighting, sound, costume, and stage management, under the expert guidance of the school’s Technical team.
Mrs Beccy Preston, Director of the show and Head of Drama at Kennet School, praised the pupils’ commitment and talent: “This production has been a true celebration of everything we value at Kennet: teamwork, creativity, and dedication. Every pupil involved has given their all, both on- and off-stage, and I could not be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.”
Also commenting on the production, Mr Long, who co-directed, said: “As ever, it’s been a real privilege to work alongside such enthusiastic and hard-working pupils. Their professionalism and passion have been outstanding, and it’s been inspiring to see them grow in confidence throughout the process.”
The success of High School Musical follows a long tradition of high-quality performing arts at Kennet and sets the bar high for future productions. With such an array of talent, there’s no doubt that the school's creative spirit will continue to thrive.
