Co-Curriculum Statement

Kennet Pupil taking part in House Darts

Kennet’s life beyond the classroom is rich and varied, with more than 150 co-curricular activities designed to help every pupil discover what inspires them. Sport is a major part of school life for many, but our programme extends far beyond the playing field, offering opportunities to suit every interest. For some, it is the excitement of the Flying Club; for others, the camaraderie of the Cadet Force (CCF) or the challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE). Some are drawn to the cerebral demands of chess, while others find their confidence and creativity on stage in our annual school musical.

Kennet School also offers extensive opportunities in the creative arts or intellectual pursuits. Budding politicians and journalists are well served by the myriads of public speaking and writing opportunities to hone their rhetorical art. There is an amazing range of musical and choral ensembles and a host of varied Art and Design & Technology activities.

In addition, House events are at the heart of the Kennet School House competition, offering pupils the chance to participate in a whole host of events from Boccia to Maths, Darts to Performing Arts, fostering a sense of community and school spirit.

We aim to encourage pupils to engage in confidence and character-building activities which enhance their development inside and outside the classroom. There is no financial barrier to participation; all activities are accessible to pupils in financial need at no charge (except for a few where we operate a co-pay model).

Kennet School’s commitment to a broad and inclusive co-curricular programme ensures every pupil can grow, learn, and excel beyond the classroom.
