Post-Exam Services 2026
Pupils who wish to query or contest an examination result must complete the Post-Results Services Request Form before requesting any of the services listed below. Please note: Results can go up as well as down. The form does not need to be completed by pupils who are satisfied with their results.
Priority Review of Results
Applications for this service must be made within seven days of the publication of results. This service is not available for January or March examinations and should be used only when a university place depends on the result in question.
Pupils must not have requested a photocopy of their script if they wish to use this service.
Review of Results
This service offers the same potential outcomes as a Priority Review of Results, but it is not an express service. It is available to A-level and GCSE candidates and involves a review of the original marking to ensure that the agreed mark scheme has been applied correctly.
There are three possible outcomes:
- The original mark is lowered, which means that the final grade may be lower than the grade originally awarded.
- The original mark is confirmed as correct, and there is no change to the grade awarded.
- The original mark is raised, which means that the final grade may be higher than the grade originally awarded.
If the overall A Level or GCSE grade is increased, the relevant fees will be refunded. Refunds will be issued once the school has been invoiced, which may be several months after the review has been completed.
Access to Scripts
Pupils may request a copy of their script, or exam paper, to identify where they lost marks or to help them decide whether to request a Review of Results.
A photocopy of the script will be sent to the Examinations Office, and the school will contact the pupil when it is available for collection.
This service should not be used if the pupil intends to request a Priority Review of Results. It is currently available only to A Level candidates.
Pupils may also request the return of their original script, although this is a much slower service. This may be helpful for pupils who are considering resitting the examination.
Once an original script has been returned, its security is considered to have been compromised. A Review of Results will therefore no longer be available.
Clerical Check
This service involves a check of all clerical procedures that led to the issue of the result. It does not involve a review of the marking. Instead, it checks the administrative aspects of the script, such as whether the marks have been added together correctly.
