Kennet School marked British Science Week with a busy programme of lunchtime activities led by the Science Department.

Throughout the week, pupils explored a range of scientific ideas through creative and engaging practical challenges. Activities included ‘tattooing’ bananas using oxidation, building balloon-powered cars from recycled materials, and creating rainbows through chemical reactions.

Pupils also experimented with circuits powered by potato batteries and discovered how water can be boiled in an origami kettle over a Bunsen burner.

The week gave pupils the opportunity to investigate a variety of scientific principles in an enjoyable and interactive way. Other activities focused on the science of the senses, with pupils taking part in taste tests and sensitivity experiments, as well as learning how to send Morse code through optical fibre.

The activities formed part of a wider celebration of science across the school and encouraged pupils to explore scientific ideas beyond the classroom.

Kennet School would like to thank the Science Department for organising such an inspiring and enjoyable week.
