Our House Performing Arts competition once again highlighted pupils' incredible talent, teamwork and leadership skills.

Kennet School’s House Performing Arts competition once again highlighted the incredible talent, teamwork, and leadership of our pupils, led by our dedicated House Captains. Taking full ownership of their productions, the Captains planned, directed, and coordinated every aspect - from auditions and choreography to lighting, sound, and set design - displaying creativity, collaboration, and vision throughout.

Each House presented a thought-provoking and beautifully executed performance, exploring themes that resonated deeply with audiences. The winning performance came from St Patrick House, whose moving story of two teenagers rediscovering life’s simple joys captured the hearts of judges and spectators alike. Their portrayal of hope, friendship, and the courage earned them the coveted top spot, alongside the Best Director and Best Actor awards.

Additional awards celebrated excellence across all aspects of performance and production:

  • Overall Design (programme, costume, props, set): St Francis House
  • Technical Award (lighting, sound, backstage running): St David House
  • Most Cohesive Performance: St Michael House
  • Best Dance Performer: Malachi (St David House)
  • Best Technical Dancer: Isla (St Michael House)
  • Best Actor: Alex (St Patrick House)
  • Best Actress: Brooke (St Michael House)
  • Most Innovative Choreography: St David House
  • Best Director: St Patrick House.

Ms G Rigg, Headteacher, said: “I am so proud of our House Captains and all the pupils involved in House Performing Arts. Each House pulled together an incredible show, with thoughtful and meaningful plots, some reflecting real-life experiences, from coping with loss to navigating the challenges of growing up in the modern world. Their ability to tackle such important themes make every performance a memorable experience.”

This year’s competition was not only a celebration of artistic talent but also a testament to the dedication and unity that make our school community so special.
