Students reach National Raspberry Pie Finals

Five talented Year 12 A Level Computer Science students reached the finals of the prestigious Raspberry Pi Competition 2025.

Kennet School is proud to announce that five of our talented Year 12 A Level Computer Science students reached the finals of the prestigious Raspberry Pi Competition 2025.

Their innovative project, The Drip Grip, is a smart system designed to detect leaking taps, automatically shut off the water supply and promote water conservation. The students presented their work at the national finals, held at Google UK’s headquarters in London, where they impressed a panel of industry experts with their creativity, technical expertise and teamwork.

Mrs Zamani, Head of Computer Science (Years 7-11), commented: "I'm most proud of how the team took their project from an idea to delivery, with minimal support from us. I was merely a facilitator in the process and watched them fly."

Mrs Poyda, Head of Computer Science (Sixth Form), added: "I'm incredibly proud of the comments made by the judges. One commented that Team Kennet had the best and strongest team dynamic she has ever seen."

Following the competition, the group has been invited to exhibit The Drip Grip at the Raspberry Pi Client Event at the Science Museum in July - a fantastic opportunity to share their invention with a wider audience.

We are incredibly proud of the students for reaching the final of such a renowned national competition and for representing Kennet School with innovation and professionalism.
