Kennet School held the first rehearsal for its brand-new Rising Stars Choir yesterday, welcoming Rising Year 7 pupils who will be joining the school this September.
The choir offers a fun, supportive space where pupils can make new friends, build confidence, and showcase their musical talents. Over the next eight weeks, the group will rehearse weekly in preparation for their debut performance at the Kennet School concert on 2 July.
Isaac, currently a pupil at Francis Baily Primary School, commented: “It was really good. I made a new friend, and the teachers were very welcoming. I am surprised at how good we sounded and it was only our first day!”
Headteacher Ms Rigg added: “Music plays a vital role in the life of our school. It brings people together, builds confidence, and gives students the chance to express themselves. We’re thrilled to welcome our new Year 7s through the Rising Stars Choir – it’s a brilliant way to start their journey with us.”
Open to all incoming Year 7s, the Rising Stars Choir is part of Kennet’s commitment to helping new pupils feel part of the school community from day one.
