Secondary Geography Quality Mark Achievement

Kennet's been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark (SGQM) by the Geographical Association.
Kennet School is proud to announce that its Geography Department has been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark (SGQM) by the Geographical Association, an internationally recognised accolade that celebrates excellence in geography education.
Following a thorough application process, the department was praised for its outstanding curriculum work and clear vision for geography teaching and learning. The award acknowledges the department’s commitment to developing high-quality learning experiences that inspire pupils to think critically about the world around them.
Geography is a particularly popular subject at Kennet, with large numbers of pupils choosing it at GCSE and A Level each year. The department also offers enriching opportunities beyond the classroom, such as the recent trip to Naples, where pupils explored first-hand the landscapes and processes they had studied, from exploring ancient ruins in Herculaneum and Pompeii to pizza-making, visiting a citrus farm, and discovering Ravello and the Amalfi coastline.
Kennet School is amongst only a handful of schools in the UK to achieve this significant recognition, placing its Geography Department at the forefront of innovative and impactful geography education nationwide.
Mr Cooke, Head of Geography, commented: "We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the enthusiasm of our pupils, who continually engage with geography in meaningful and exciting ways. We look forward to building on this success!”
Ms Rigg, Headteacher, added: “This award is testament to the exceptional work of our Geography team. It highlights the strength of our curriculum and our vision for equipping pupils with the knowledge and skills to shape the world.”
