Key Stage 4

Our Level 2 Construction course is a vocational course, which means it is more practical-based and assessed predominantly via coursework. The course content is designed to give pupils a comprehensive introduction to the construction industry. Pupils learn essential skills in areas such as carpentry, bricklaying, painting and decorating and tiling. The course also covers health and safety, construction technology and project management.

Throughout the course, pupils undertake practical projects which simulate real-world construction tasks. They develop technical skills, problem-solving abilities and an understanding of the construction process from planning to completion. The curriculum is tailored to provide a strong foundation for those looking to pursue further education or apprenticeships in construction.

Facilities

Construction is an integral part of Kennet’s Design & Technology Department, offering a dedicated bricklaying compound and fully equipped facilities for hands-on learning. Pupils have access to the tools and materials needed to develop practical skills in carpentry, tiling, painting and decorating. This supportive environment ensures they gain real-world experience while building confidence and expertise.

We are committed to providing an enriching and dynamic environment that nurtures creativity, confidence and real-world skills for our future tradesmen!
