Action & Adventure
Action and adventure are a big part of life at Kennet School, ensuring our pupils have access to diverse, enriching experiences in the classroom. In addition to a myriad of subject-related educational trips and tours for languages, humanities, performing arts and sports, we also offer:
Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award scheme is extremely popular amongst our pupils, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience that helps develop resilience, independence, and teamwork. As part of the programme, students embark on adventurous expeditions through some of the most stunning and diverse landscapes the UK has to offer, from rolling hills and dense woodlands to rugged coastlines and national parks. In addition to the expedition element, pupils engage in a range of activities that support personal development, including volunteering, physical challenges, skill-building, and residential experiences. The DofE Award not only enhances their confidence and character but also strengthens university and job applications by showcasing commitment, perseverance, and leadership.
Combined Cadet Forces
Through our valued partnership with Bradfield College, Kennet School offers weekly Combined Cadet Force (CCF) sessions for pupils in Year 10 and above. These engaging and structured sessions provide students with a unique opportunity to develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, discipline, and resilience in a challenging but supportive environment. Cadets participate in a wide range of military-style activities including fieldcraft, navigation, drills, and adventurous training, all designed to build confidence and a strong sense of responsibility. The CCF programme also encourages pupils to push their boundaries, take initiative, and grow both personally and socially, preparing them for future academic, professional, and personal success.
Expeditions with Impact
As pupils approach the end of Key Stage 4 and enter Key Stage 5, we provide them with exciting opportunities to build essential life skills, deepen cultural awareness, and explore environmental diversity through transformative expeditions across Africa, Asia, India and Latin America. These impactful journeys are offered in collaboration with Camps International and the Global Citizen Partnership.
Korean Exchange Programme
In addition to our popular Korean Club, where pupils have the opportunity to begin learning the Korean language and explore its rich culture, we also offer an exciting Korean Exchange Programme. This unique initiative allows pupils to experience cultural differences first-hand by immersing themselves in Korean daily life, traditions and education. It is a valuable opportunity for personal growth, global awareness, and the development of meaningful international friendships.
