Kennet School is proud to announce it has been awarded the 'Transforming Practice in Effective Teaching Approaches' accreditation as part of SSAT’s Framework for Exceptional Education (FfEE), a recognition that places the school amongst the most effective in the country for outstanding teaching and learning.

This prestigious accreditation is awarded to schools that demonstrate exceptional and sustained practice in specific areas of education. Following a rigorous assessment process, which included meetings with pupils, Early Careers Teachers (ECTs), and both middle and senior leaders, as well as learning walks across the school, SSAT recognised Kennet's commitment to excellence in pedagogy and pupil engagement.

Two key themes emerged from the evaluation:

  1. Consistency in the Embedding of Teaching and Learning Practices:
Kennet ensures its teaching is underpinned by well-researched methods and regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Whilst most staff are aligned with these practices, tailored support and improved onboarding help address variability. Work continues with middle leaders to refine schemes of work and ensure consistent, high-quality teaching across the school.
  2. Enhancing Pupil Engagement:

Over recent years, significant progress has been made in addressing low-level disruption and inspectors observed a dynamic learning environment where pupils are actively involved in their education, supported by innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.

SSAT (The Schools, Students and Teachers Network) praised the school for meeting the highest standards of its Framework, describing Kennet’s work in effective teaching approaches as being amongst the most impactful nationally.

Headteacher, Ms Rigg, commented: “We are delighted to receive this accreditation, which reflects the hard work, collaboration, and professional commitment of our entire teaching staff. This recognition is a testament to the positive, learning-focused culture we strive to embed every day at Kennet.”

The school continues to prioritise evidence-informed practice, professional development, and inclusive strategies that support all learners to thrive.
