On Saturday, 3 May, Kennet School proudly hosted the 2025 Kennet Games – a much-loved annual event that brings together children with disabilities from across West Berkshire and beyond for a day of sport, fun, and friendship.
Now a cornerstone of the school’s calendar, the Kennet Games once again showcased the power of inclusive sport. With events ranging from javelin, boccia, and wheelchair races to quadra throw, table skittles, table cricket, and a crowd-favourite obstacle course, every participant had the chance to get involved and shine.
This year, Kennet School was delighted to welcome pupils from Charters School, Garland Junior School, Lambs Lane School, PALS, and Speenhamland School. Their enthusiasm and team spirit helped make the day even more memorable.
The Games simply couldn’t happen without the generous support of so many. Kennet School extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who played a part – from colleagues, local businesses, and parents to the many volunteers who gave up their time. Most of all, thank you to the incredible children who bring such energy and joy, and make the Kennet Games truly unique.
Headteacher Ms Rigg reflected on the day’s success: "The Kennet Games are one of the highlights of our year. I’m so proud of everyone who made the event such a success – especially our PDR team, Mrs Morton and Mr Joyce, and the many volunteers who gave their time so generously. Seeing our students and guests enjoy the day together is what makes it so special."
The Kennet Games continue to be a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together – united by sport, inclusion, and joy. Kennet School looks forward to many more years of celebrating the talents and triumphs of every participant.
